Lead Roofer Wanted

We are seeking an experienced Lead Roofer with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in the installation of long run iron roofing. This role requires a strong background in roofing techniques, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering work to the highest standards of quality and safety.

As a Lead Roofer, you will coordinate and oversee the roofing team on residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and on schedule. You will work closely with the Project Manager to complete daily tasks, uphold building standards, and share your skills and knowledge with apprentice roofers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and train a team of roofers, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols

  • Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of long run iron roofing systems in compliance with NZ building codes and standards

  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure installations meet the highest standards

  • Manage time, resources, and materials effectively to meet project deadlines

  • Conduct site inspections and coordinate with project managers, clients, and other trades

  • Provide expert advice on roofing designs, materials, and techniques

  • Uphold all health, safety, and legislative requirements on-site

  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients

  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues promptly

  • Assist in preparing job estimates and ordering materials when required

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in long run iron roofing installation and roofing systems

  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings

  • Full NZ Driver Licence

  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a positive attitude

  • Knowledge of roofing materials, techniques, and safety practice

  • Willingness to work independently and train less experienced roofers
